Just returned home from a dr’s appointment

I haven’t gained any weight in a month. How is that possible?

I’ve been eating extra healthy - lots of fruits, veggies,  and whole grains but I’ve definitely been getting my carb and sugar fix on a regular basis. This is the first time in my life I haven’t felt even the slightest bit guilty for finishing a pint of haagen-daz double chocolate in one sitting.

and the baby is most definitely growing, along with my waistline and bust. (My male neighbor commented just yesterday “Well, atleast PARTS of you look pregnant”. I just laughed uncomfortably and ran inside to put another layer on top of my tanktop)

The doctor said it is totally normal for some women, especially during their first pregnancy - but I can’t help but wonder how it is even possible that all these changes in my body haven’t caused a measurable weight gain. It totally perplexes me.

On another note - we heard little man’s heartbeat! They left the fetal heart monitor going for an extra long time so that we could listen to the sweet music of that little woosh woosh woosh beating away. After about 20 seconds, there was a gurgle noise and then the heart beat was gone. “Did you hear him move away? That’s what that sound was” said the doctor - we listened for a little longer and then another gurgle and the woosh woosh started back again as he moved back in front of the monitor.

Brent told me later he imagined our son kicking off the edge of a pool and swimming back and forth inside my belly. That image gets me giggling almost as much as square dancing blueberries.

Growing the Good April Charity: The Theodore Mulhollan Walk Team for March of Dimes.

Hello. I'm Melissa.

Wife to a rock n roll, super dad named Brent.

We're the adventuring type. Go. do. See.
We hit the jackpot when we had our daughter, Everly Veda in January 2010.
She has my eyes, his lips and a San Francisco heart.

In May 2011, we welcomed Arlo Redding, the most magical little dude ever into our family. His presence has made our good thing, even better.

We like old stuff and keeping it simple.
We believe in love, family and a good pair of cowboy boots.

Brent sings songs.
I write words.
And these sweet babies make our world go round.

Welcome.
