5 Thoughts. (And sorry it’s sideways)

1. Watching Arlo achieve milestones fills me with as much excitement and pride as I felt when Everly did these same things as a baby. I guess I always thought that maybe it wouldn’t feel as big and wondrous after the first, boy was I wrong.

2. The day after he mastered “Da Da”, we got him on video saying “Bop Bop” over and over again. Bop Bop is what our kid’s call their grandfathers - a nickname Everly started when she couldn’t say Papa.

3. Hear how he is breathing kind of heavy on this video? It’s due to his Patent Ductis Arteriosis. It makes his heart have to work over time during physical activity. We got news last Friday that they will go in and do a catheterization to close his PDA when he hits 22 pounds. He’s at 17 pounds now, so I expect it will be somewhere on or around his first birthday.

4. Brent was away when I shot this video. I played it for him later that  night after the children went to bed. His eyes welled up with tears and he had a great big smile on his face. I guess #1 applies to him too.

5. Look closely - do you see that hair! It’s like duck fluff! Blonde, curly, duck fluff - It looks like Arlo’s days of baldy baldness are coming to an end.

Love,

M

Hello. I'm Melissa.

Wife to a rock n roll, super dad named Brent.

We're the adventuring type. Go. do. See.
We hit the jackpot when we had our daughter, Everly Veda in January 2010.
She has my eyes, his lips and a San Francisco heart.

In May 2011, we welcomed Arlo Redding, the most magical little dude ever into our family. His presence has made our good thing, even better.

We like old stuff and keeping it simple.
We believe in love, family and a good pair of cowboy boots.

Brent sings songs.
I write words.
And these sweet babies make our world go round.

Welcome.
