Arlo. An Update.
He opened his eyes in recovery and blinked at us. Closed them again and slept for the next 4 hours. All of his vitals looked so great that they told us we wouldn’t have to stay for extended monitoring. We got to take him home only six hours after walking in the door with our overnight bag still neatly packed and untouched. It was such an amazing blessing.
Arlo has been healing up so well, we haven’t had to give him any of the heavy painkillers that they sent us home with. I can’t wait to pour that stuff down the sink in a few more days.
Our brave boy barely batted an eye at surgery. He had a smile for every nurse and doctor before he went in and saved the rest for mama and daddy before he went to sleep that night (just to reassure us once more that he was doing just fine). He’s tolerated us cleaning his incisions and gotten back into his regular routine of being a rough and tumble- almost crawling - squawking- laughing- people charmer.
I took a deep breath yesterday. Like a real one. A fill up every square inch of your lungs deep breath and then let it out slowly and deliberately. I let all of the leftover worry shake off with it. I’ve been carrying so many concerns on my shoulders lately and knowing that we can put a big fat black mark through this on Arlo’s list of health issues is major. Onward we go.
Love,
M

Hello. I'm Melissa.

Wife to a rock n roll, super dad named Brent.

We're the adventuring type. Go. do. See.
We hit the jackpot when we had our daughter, Everly Veda in January 2010.
She has my eyes, his lips and a San Francisco heart.

In May 2011, we welcomed Arlo Redding, the most magical little dude ever into our family. His presence has made our good thing, even better.

We like old stuff and keeping it simple.
We believe in love, family and a good pair of cowboy boots.

Brent sings songs.
I write words.
And these sweet babies make our world go round.

Welcome.
