Something Awesome: Philanthropic Stocking Stuffers

There is a little company over on my sponsors tab that has quietly been doing amazing, life-changing things in the world. Barley & Birch started off as an organic, environmentally-friendly children’s clothing line (my kids live in their comfy tees & onesies!) I love that they are a completely carbon-neutral company with the most earth friendly options utilized in the production of their clothing.

Over the last two years, they have used their business as a launching pad to open a children’s home & school in Port au Prince, Haiti.  The astounding thing about this is that the people who run this company are not millionaires. Barley & Birch is not a huge clothing company and yet, they’ve done something so inspiring and courageous.

This is passion in action:

It’s almost overwhelming to think about the impact that this access to quality education and support will have on the lives of these beautiful children. Barley and Birch recently teamed up with a few watchmaker friends to create a tangible, visible way to share the good work their foundation is doing and help fund the continuation of their efforts. This limited edition (Only 200 were made!) watch is only $30 and a full 100% of the proceeds goes to support their school and children’s home in Haiti.

I love this company. I love the people behind this company. I’ve promised to help them spread the word on the amazing work they are doing in any way I can. If you have anyone on your Christmas list who has a passion for doing good, helping others, supporting children or just plain loves a cool watch, please consider purchasing one of the Barley & Birch Foundation’s limited run watches. Not only will you be giving someone you love a great gift but you’ll also be funding the education of a child in Haiti for an entire month. How’s that for a feel good holiday?

UPDATE: YOU GUYS!! In 2 hours you have managed to fund the ENTIRE school for TWO MONTHS! Thank you thank you! Doesn’t that feel so amazing? Let’s sell ‘em out! Please help me spread the word about this special promotion with anyone you feel might be interested!

Love,

M

Hello. I'm Melissa.

Wife to a rock n roll, super dad named Brent.

We're the adventuring type. Go. do. See.
We hit the jackpot when we had our daughter, Everly Veda in January 2010.
She has my eyes, his lips and a San Francisco heart.

In May 2011, we welcomed Arlo Redding, the most magical little dude ever into our family. His presence has made our good thing, even better.

We like old stuff and keeping it simple.
We believe in love, family and a good pair of cowboy boots.

Brent sings songs.
I write words.
And these sweet babies make our world go round.

Welcome.
