October 12, 2010
I’m in NYC at the moment for a customer event. While here, I  squeezed in a visit with one of my best friends last night. Heather moved from NC to NYC earlier this year to work in fashion marketing and I haven’t seen her since before Everly was born! We met in Soho and on our walk to dinner, we stopped to browse a little alleyway market full of touristy goods like I <3 NYC bumper stickers and colorful scarves.
In the far back of the market was a chair massage tent with 10 minutes for $10. I convinced Heather to get one with me and even though it sounds completely sketchy to get a massage in the back of an alleyway in NYC, it was money well spent! We must have been the last customers of the day as they let us stay in the chairs for almost 20 minutes. It was probably the first time in my life I’ve gotten a massage with fire engines wailing in the background. We left feeling like giggly piles of mush and caught a cab to escape the downpour that began to fall on the city.
It was almost 11pm by the time we made our way through drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert and we felt like we were finally up to speed on all the things that had happened in each other’s lives since we had our last deep conversation.
Nothing makes me happier (or prouder) to see my friends thriving - squeezing life for all it’s worth and making their own way in the world.
And now, before the clock has even struck noon, my event is over, my bags are packed and soon I’ll be headed back to that sweet, squishy little girl in the photo above.
Love,
M

Growing the Good April Charity: The Theodore Mulhollan Walk Team for March of Dimes.

Hello. I'm Melissa.

Wife to a rock n roll, super dad named Brent.

We're the adventuring type. Go. do. See.
We hit the jackpot when we had our daughter, Everly Veda in January 2010.
She has my eyes, his lips and a San Francisco heart.

In May 2011, we welcomed Arlo Redding, the most magical little dude ever into our family. His presence has made our good thing, even better.

We like old stuff and keeping it simple.
We believe in love, family and a good pair of cowboy boots.

Brent sings songs.
I write words.
And these sweet babies make our world go round.

Welcome.
