Do you see this pretty blue stroller?  It’s a Phil and Ted’s sport. As much as we love our city and travel perfect Quinny Zapp, we’ve quickly realized we need something that can take on the sometimes uneven sidewalks and natural paths of Raleigh.  I really liked the versatility of the Phil and Ted’s because it could easily convert to a double stroller when we decide to expand our family - the one thing stopping us from purchasing one: the $400 price tag.

I have been scouring Craigslist for months hoping to come across a used one for a good deal and on a whim this weekend, I searched for one again. Low and behold, someone had posted an ad for a used one just an hour before and all they were asking was $40 (it even came with the second seat - not pictured).

That put me into a bit of a freak out and I sent not one, but two emails with way too many exclamation points - 3 different ways the seller could contact me and a promise that we could be in the car and on our way to pick it up “LIKE RIGHT NOW!!!”

When she called me back, I already had my shoes on and was packing the baby’s diaper bag “just in case” - She told me she had received a slew of inquiries but no one seemed quite as…. (she pauses for a second) and then says “No one seemed nearly as excited about it as you were”.

It needed a little TLC - some air in the tires and a wipe down (done and done) and we’ll eventually replace the seat material as I’m not crazy about the sun-bleached blue camouflage on the seats (And poor Everly was called a boy twice while riding in it despite wearing a flower headband) - but I’m not complaining -  this was such an awesome find!  We were so excited, we took it out for a spin and wound up walking miles all over downtown with EV happily riding along in her new wheels.

We worked up an appetite for fish tacos, calamari & strawberry and fried goat cheese salad.

While we were out, we also treated ourselves to Krispy Kreme and I’m happy to report that the undercarriage of our new stroller easily fits a dozen glazed donuts plus a diaper bag and our camera case. (They really should use that little fact in their marketing campaign)

It was a happy, happy day with our awesome craigslist find!

Have you ever landed an incredible deal on something you really, really wanted but couldn’t have afforded otherwise?

Love,

M

Growing the Good April Charity: The Theodore Mulhollan Walk Team for March of Dimes.

Hello. I'm Melissa.

Wife to a rock n roll, super dad named Brent.

We're the adventuring type. Go. do. See.
We hit the jackpot when we had our daughter, Everly Veda in January 2010.
She has my eyes, his lips and a San Francisco heart.

In May 2011, we welcomed Arlo Redding, the most magical little dude ever into our family. His presence has made our good thing, even better.

We like old stuff and keeping it simple.
We believe in love, family and a good pair of cowboy boots.

Brent sings songs.
I write words.
And these sweet babies make our world go round.

Welcome.
