Oh please let me get through today.
I’m working from home - Brent’s headed out to a boy’s weekend at the beach and my mom is coming to stay with Everly and I through Sunday. But with no one to watch her during the day today, I’ve got to work from home. I use the term “work” loosely as I’m already into my second conference call and there is no hiding her high pitch screeching no matter how quickly I hit the mute button.
I’ve got my arsenol of goodies to try to keep her interested:
 a bottle of milk
a cold pickle in a mesh feeder (now that she has multiple teeth she’s learned to take a big bite out of one and give me a heart attack!)
A small cardboard box filled with a sleeping mask (something for her to explore)
A clear plastic container filled with a chip clip and taped together so she can’t open it (makes a great impromptu rattle)
Sesame street on the laptop
I know that some of those items sound a bit weird, but at 8 months, I’ve learned that giving Everly things she’s never seen before and allow her to explore, open, or shake keep her interested for much longer than the toys she plays with every day.
So all of that is probably going to give me a combined 30 minutes of quiet time.  I need more ammo to get through the afternoon and two more con calls. I’m walking around searching for baby safe countainers and items that I can fit inside of them.
Let’s hope I can get even a few emails sent out today. whew.  Are there any work from home moms out there that also watch their children full time? If so, I could use any tips or tricks you use to keep your little entertained. I’m normally game for giving her my full attention, but today I’ve got no choice but to multi-task.

Growing the Good April Charity: The Theodore Mulhollan Walk Team for March of Dimes.

Hello. I'm Melissa.

Wife to a rock n roll, super dad named Brent.

We're the adventuring type. Go. do. See.
We hit the jackpot when we had our daughter, Everly Veda in January 2010.
She has my eyes, his lips and a San Francisco heart.

In May 2011, we welcomed Arlo Redding, the most magical little dude ever into our family. His presence has made our good thing, even better.

We like old stuff and keeping it simple.
We believe in love, family and a good pair of cowboy boots.

Brent sings songs.
I write words.
And these sweet babies make our world go round.

Welcome.
