The Style Mentors

I am really, super excited and proud to let you guys in on an awesome project I am part of  called The Style Mentors. The brainchild of my friend Brandy, The Style Mentors is a super easy and fun way to get an individualized, online personal shopper to pick out pretty duds for your whole family. If you have a special event or just want a wardrobe makeover, we’re here to provide guidance and hand-pick items that fit your style and price point.

I’ll be honest, I don’t look at myself as a “fashion blogger” and so for a minute I had to think, what could I bring to the table as a style mentor to others? But after thinking on it for awhile, I came to the conclusion that I’ve learned a thing or two that make me a good fit for this role:

1. I know how to find great wardrobe pieces on the internet. With my busy schedule I have very little time for actually store shopping and about 80% of my wardrobe is purchased online. I’ve learned the ins and outs of finding unique, pretty pieces for good deals - from vintage to the latest trends.

2. I’m a mom and I know that comfortable and fashionable have to go hand in hand when getting dressed in the mornings. I’ve learned what is realistic and wearable and what won’t work.

So while I can’t promise to put together outfits that will make you the next Lady Gaga - I can give you all kinds of recommendations on pretty clothes that can fit your budget and make you feel like the belle of the ball. More than anything, I’m just really excited (and honored) to be a Style Mentor next to two of the most fashionable mamas I know:

Brandy from Baby Blackbird

Jen from Jen Loves Kev

To kick things off, I’m offering up a one outfit style package to a Dear Baby reader. Use it for you, your significant other, or even your little one! If you’ve got a wedding or a family photoshoot or maybe just want an outfit that says BOOM POW! - I’ll work with you to pick out the perfect pieces!

To enter to win: * leave a comment below and tell me how you’d use your Style Mentor outfit package and what you need help finding (the perfect vintage dress? To die for boots for fall?).*For a second entry, follow The Style Mentors on Twitter & leave a second comment stating that you did so.

I can wait to pick out some pretty pieces for one of you! I’ll choose one winner at random this Friday! (*Tumblr followers - be sure to leave an actual comment & not just reply to this post!)

And be sure to stop by The Style Mentors and check things out for yourself.

Here’s to new opportunities!

Love,

M

  3. treasurehunter said: I need help incorporating cute but comfortable shoes into work outfits (and for play too) for the fall. An outfit that would look good at work or for going out (business casual, emphasis on the casual), style is colorful/classic/bohemian
  4. namelessw0nder said: Oh my gosh this is tricky! I have always prided myself in being pretty unfashionable. I would use the style package to go towards something pretty but functional that I would feel comfortable wearing at home or at the office (doing tech support).

Growing the Good April Charity: The Theodore Mulhollan Walk Team for March of Dimes.

Hello. I'm Melissa.

Wife to a rock n roll, super dad named Brent.

We're the adventuring type. Go. do. See.
We hit the jackpot when we had our daughter, Everly Veda in January 2010.
She has my eyes, his lips and a San Francisco heart.

In May 2011, we welcomed Arlo Redding, the most magical little dude ever into our family. His presence has made our good thing, even better.

We like old stuff and keeping it simple.
We believe in love, family and a good pair of cowboy boots.

Brent sings songs.
I write words.
And these sweet babies make our world go round.

Welcome.
