True Story.
The first time I saw Yo Gabba Gabba, I was sitting at the counter in our favorite neighborhood burrito spot in San Francisco. As I sat there, waiting for the deliciousness that was about to be mine, I started to watch this show  on the tv above my head. It featured brightly colored monsters dancing around much like hippies at a Phish concert, a sassy and energetic gay man in a tight, red jumpsuit and some seriously crazy music. I thought to myself “This is a really, really weird show. What IS this?” and as I scanned the room, I realized that everyone was watching it too. Even one of the burrito making guys was zoned in (maybe that’s why it was taking so long!).
I honestly thought it must be some kind of drug-culture trippy movie.  I mean, we were in San Francisco - mere blocks from Haight steet - and there was no doubting the crazy stuff going on up on that television screen.
After I received my food, I left a bit perplexed and assuming that I’d just watched something truly underground UNTIL I got pregnant and began to see those crazy little puppets all over the place.
This show is clearly the brainchild of someone who grew up in the 70s. Without a doubt.
(and I’m not going to lie, our household has become fans. It’s still trippy as all get out - but unlike my first presumption - it’s good, wholesome trippiness. Which is fine by us.)
so there’s a story for today.
Love,
M

Growing the Good April Charity: The Theodore Mulhollan Walk Team for March of Dimes.

Hello. I'm Melissa.

Wife to a rock n roll, super dad named Brent.

We're the adventuring type. Go. do. See.
We hit the jackpot when we had our daughter, Everly Veda in January 2010.
She has my eyes, his lips and a San Francisco heart.

In May 2011, we welcomed Arlo Redding, the most magical little dude ever into our family. His presence has made our good thing, even better.

We like old stuff and keeping it simple.
We believe in love, family and a good pair of cowboy boots.

Brent sings songs.
I write words.
And these sweet babies make our world go round.

Welcome.
