Today is mother’s day.

I slept in. I ate a bowl of trix cereal. then I decided that I’d been feeling weird for too many days. So I sent Brent to the store for a pregnancy test. I fumbled with the packaging, followed all the steps, and then I immediately went to occupy myself in our bedroom. I tried to make the bed but my hands were shaking.  Brent came in holding the test. There was a little + sign. Even though the box clearly states that a + means you’re pregnant, I read the entire instruction manual three times just in case they were joking.

I didn’t know what to do next. Cry, hug, dance around? So instead I gave him a very awkward high five. and I said wow. a lot. I think I said it ten times. then I gave him another high five. I don’t know why, but hearing the news of our pregnancy made me feel like we’d just scored a touchdown.

Growing the Good April Charity: The Theodore Mulhollan Walk Team for March of Dimes.

Hello. I'm Melissa.

Wife to a rock n roll, super dad named Brent.

We're the adventuring type. Go. do. See.
We hit the jackpot when we had our daughter, Everly Veda in January 2010.
She has my eyes, his lips and a San Francisco heart.

In May 2011, we welcomed Arlo Redding, the most magical little dude ever into our family. His presence has made our good thing, even better.

We like old stuff and keeping it simple.
We believe in love, family and a good pair of cowboy boots.

Brent sings songs.
I write words.
And these sweet babies make our world go round.

Welcome.
