The Weekend Where We Slept.
Our intentions were to do nothing but be lazy all weekend. We slept in (well, Arlo and I mostly… Everly still had Brent up at 7:30am… bless his heart.). We stayed in our pajamas all day. We watched movies and made big pallets of blankets on the floor. We took naps and more naps. Everly and Brent built a blanket fort in the middle of the living room. Aside from a bicycle ride...

A Few Friday Links
(Vintage Mama & Everly. Oh, she was such a tiny thing! Photo by Kelly Jacikas) This photo series of a darling old couple next to their growing landscaping makes my heart supremely happy. So much conveyed in these photos without saying a word. If the no-heat curls tutorial blew your mind, check out this fun video on how to wear a men’s dress shirt as a dress, skirt, and top. I HAVE TO...

Daddy & His Girl.
I was quietly watching Brent and Everly together the other day and laughing a bit to myself over the colorful outfit they had collaborated on for her to wear. (He chose the shirt and pants, she insisted on the pink boots). I watched as he played guitar along to an old record and she picked up her little instrument and mimicked his every move.  Later, she happily let him trim the bangs out...

Be honest, yall.
I’ve been getting requests to bring back Ladies Room Fashion Show. It was really fun when I was a beach ball with legs as every morning proved to be a challenge in dressing my baby belly for the office - but now - now I’m just a regular ‘ol working gal. I’m pretty sure it’s no longer interesting. Not to mention, I imagine there are many, many of you who could really...

Remembering.
A year ago this week our little family of three was in the middle of an incredible trip, visiting dear friends of ours who spend every summer in Spain. It’s also the trip where we brought home the best souvenir of all time (a certain baby boy with striking blue eyes and a ridiculously big smile). We spent our week there dancing, laughing, and drinking from big, round goblets...

Nine signs that you might be raising a toddler...
(Photo: Everly & her best friend, Mylah - both 19 months old and looking completely sweet and innocent (ha!) at a recent get together) 1. You have said “I need to go pee pee” to another adult and meant it. 2. Everything on your front porch is covered in a layer of sidewalk chalk. 3. You have  had a conversation with your spouse about how the new guy on Blues Clues is way...

Arlo.
The first thing that most people comment on when they meet Arlo is his eyes. They are a stunning blue and he is constantly being told how beautiful they are.  There is no one who has stared into those pretty eyes of his more than Brent and I. I’ve only shared small tidbits here on my blog, but we’ve been holding our breath for nearly a month now as we waited for an appointment with a...

Changes. Big and Small.
(Photos: A random assortment from this weekend) There are some very big changes on the horizon for our family. Most of them are growing pains, but good pains they are! I was straightening the children’s nursery this weekend and thinking about how many “to dos” are on our list for Everly in the coming months. As she barrels into toddlerhood, we find ourselves tasked...

The Lightest Blue, The Darkest Brown.
Oh, these little eyes. Arlo’s the color of the sky, Everly’s the color of the earth. Both make my heart thump thump like you wouldn’t believe. Love, M

A Day in the Life... Dear Baby
I figured with a peek into so many of my guest blogger friend’s lives that maybe I should use my first day back at work on Wednesday to give you all a peek into my life too. It was harder than I thought to remember to take photos, especially in the afternoon when I got out of work early and got home to my family. Apologies for the grainy photos, but hope you enjoy anyway! ...

Everly's First Joke
Everly: Knock Knock
Brent: Who's there?
Everly: Nana & Dot Dot (Dot Dot is her great grandmother)
Brent: Nana & Dot Dot who?
Everly: Knock Knock
I don't get it either - but hey, it made us laugh anyway.

A Day in the Life... Tupelo Honey
The last of my “Day in the Life” guest bloggers is my friend Lindsay who blogs over on Tupelo Honey. I don’t have enough words to tell you how special this girl is (girl? lady? woman? Are we old enough to official move to the “women” title now, Lindsay? I’m not sure!) Lindsay and I somehow jumped on the same cosmic path through marriage, moving to new cities,...

On Going Back to Work...
(Photos: Everly and I on Sunday) I want to write that I am freaking out about going back to work tomorrow. I want to write that I couldn’t sleep last night thinking about it. I want to write that I’m not ready to leave my family after three amazing months of togetherness - all of these things are true. But I also know that they are short sighted, because unlike thousands of...

I tried to dance recently
like, really dance. The way I used to when I was in college and my girlfriends and I got dolled up and went out on the town. There was a good song on, I was feeling the beat and since no one was around I decided to break it down. It took me less than a minute to realize that I looked pretty ridiculous. I swear I used to have some decent swagger! Thoughts of my 13th birthday slumber party came to...

A lesson in learning to be present.
(Photo:Everly is always reaching for Arlo’s hand) I sat in the back of our van, holding a cold bottle of breastmilk I’d just pulled from the cooler to Arlo’s mouth while he screamed red faced at me. I apologized that it wasn’t warm and held my breath that he would take it anyway. Everly had her hand outstretched to me, “hand mama” she kept saying over and...

A Day in the Life... Alix from Modern Kiddo
I’ve got just a few “day in the life” posts left before I head back to the ‘ol office and I’ve got a bonafide blog crush on today’s guest blogger. Alix is one of the most stylish women EVER, lives and works in my beloved San Francisco, and is mama to Wolfie who sports the best head of hair you’ve ever seen. Have I ever told you guys how obsessed I am with...
