Ladies Room Fashion Show. Weeks of 4/18 & 4/25
I’m having to combine weeks again as I’ve been working from home more and more often lately. It’s just become really uncomfortable to sit at my desk for long periods of time, even with lots of walking around and using my birth ball as a chair. I’m really lucky that my company has allowed me to come in as I feel up to it but my poor Ladies Room Fashion Show posts are...

Final Countdown: 2 weeks to Arlo
Someone needs to tell this little guy that the exit out of my belly is not straight through my left side. He’s been trying to Chuck Norris kick his way out for several weeks now and it’s really starting to hurt! In true little boy fashion, Arlo is so strong and active. When I was pregnant with Everly, by 38 weeks we were beside ourselves for her to come out, but this time I am...

Looking for advice from previous birth center...
When we packed our go-time bag in anticipation of Everly, I had a huge amount of stuff that went along with us to the hospital. (See post here) Delivering in a birth center is much different - we get to go home 6 to 10 hours after Arlo is born so I don’t need to bring days worth of clothes and other items. So far I’ve packed: a few comfortable cotton dresses for me a bathing suit...

Easter is for....
Hunting eggs. Snuggling cousins. Lovin’ on mama. Front porch baths. Being entertained by a silly papa. And our front porch baby birds hatching! Hope you and your family enjoyed a beautiful weekend too! Love, M

Final Countdown: Three weeks to Arlo
Well, here we are. We’ve officially reached full term baby status. I’m really proud of my body for getting Arlo and I to this point safe and sound. It’s a pretty remarkable feat - growing a child - and I rarely give my body the appreciation or admiration that it truly deserves for such an accomplishment. Like most people, I am my own worst critic and do far too much nitpicking...

Before and After. Our Shared Nursery
I’ve finally got the photos up from our nursery makeover! We wanted to update Everly’s nursery to make it a shared gender neutral space, appropriate for both she and Arlo, but wanted to keep our budget reasonable.  I really loved a lot of the little vintage pieces we’ve collected over the past year or two to make Dovie’s room special and wanted to expand on the kitschy...

Weathering the storm.
I wanted to take a moment and say thank you to those of you who have reached out and inquired about how our family fared after the tornados that ripped through our area last Saturday. I have been through several major hurricanes in North Carolina, but we haven’t had a tornado scare like that since I was a very small girl. We spent most of Saturday morning in our pajamas watching the news....

Dear Baby Sponsor Highlight: Nourish Baby Organics
I want to introduce you to a new Dear Baby sponsor, Nourish Baby Organics. This line of 100% natural skin care products began when founder & mom, Melissa, wanted a natural treatment for her son’s eczema.  She became frustrated with how many skin care companies made claims to be “all natural” by throwing in a couple plant based ingredients but still included toxic chemicals...

Final Countdown: Four weeks to Arlo
I’m starting to feel like a little mama squirrel with all of the little stockpiles of baby necessities I’ve been hiding away lately. I keep trying to remember those things we needed most in the early weeks with Everly. I’ve been storing away tiny newborn seventh generation diapers (We used Pampers Swaddlers with the dove, but after that whole issue with them burning...

WatchWatch
Dovie’s new thing is dancing. Dancing when we give her an animal cracker. Dancing when she hears music in a commercial.  Dancing for no reason at all … but give the girl a song and she’ll do this for forever. We have no idea where she picked up that little side to side shimmy, but it cracks us up every time. Love, M (P.S. I love her crazy bed head!)

Ladies Room Fashion Show. Weeks of April 4 & April...
Oh hi! What is this post doing here on a Wednesday?  Well, I didn’t get a chance to do last week’s Ladies Room Fashion Show and I’m going to be out of the office at the end of this week so I decided to smush two weeks together and go with it. Last Monday EXTREME CLOSEUP!!! This dress didn’t photograph well far away so I got all up close and personal on this one. This has...

Yellow shoes.
I had my first pair of yellow shoes when I was about Everly’s age. (With my dog Hiko) When I found this pair, I felt they belonged on her little feet this summer. Then a few weeks back, while shopping for a pair of shoes to wear with a bridesmaids dress next month, I stumbled across the most perfect yellow wedges. I had a coupon and a credit, and decided I’d treat myself. They sat...

Internet love.
I saw this fantastic post on how to be the most amazing “New Baby Visitor” on a friend’s facebook page - I read the whole thing and then immediately felt the need to pass it on. If someone cleaned my bathroom or kitchen without me asking, I would probably cry tears of joy. (Note: I don’t think the visit should necessarily be only 15 minutes - but keep it reasonable!) We...

Spring time baby.
Just a short and sweet post today with a couple pictures of  our little dove enjoying the spring temperatures and pretty flowers. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Love, M P.S. Go look at this post and see Everly wearing this exact same pair of baby leggings at 2 months old. (Then insert “My baby’s growing up” sobbing mama reaction here)

Final Countdown: 5 weeks to Arlo
I am officially uncomfortable. It seems this little mister has decided to settle down further in my hips and back and all of a sudden POW! I feel like a legit pregnant woman. It came on so suddenly this week but I can’t get comfortable, my hips and pelvis feel so ache-y and sore all of the time now.  I’m also having fairly regular braxton hicks contractions and overall I can just...

We made a promise...
to Everly, that despite it taking us almost ten months to introduce her to the Atlantic ocean for the first time, we would do our best to take her there as often as we could from that day forward. This past weekend, we journeyed back with friends to the same spot we took her last November. We pulled the socks and shoes off her little feet and handed her a plastic shovel - and off she went. It took...

Ladies Room Fashion Show. Week of March 28th.
I bet you were hoping I’d just forget to post my weekly travesty to fashion and photography otherwise known as Ladies Room Fashion Show. Last week’s giveaways and my birthday beach weekend tossed this little post further and further out but I rallied hard and here we are.  I honestly considered not doing a post for last week because truthfully, I’m just feeling tired. My brain...

Our Maternity Photo Shoot.
Here are a few more of my favorites from our shoot. After some debate, we purposefully decided to leave Everly with the grandparents. It’s been much harder this go round to focus on my pregnancy and take time for just Arlo. We’ve learned this over and over as we’ve attended doctor’s appointments, ultrasounds, and really anything pregnancy related as a family. Everly...

Making the most of your Maternity Photoshoot
Some of my most treasured photos are the ones from my pregnancy with Everly and a few weekends ago, we had a wonderful opportunity to capture the joy in growing Arlo with one of my favorite photographers, Cat Wilborne. I’ve found that a little planning can go a long way in getting pictures that truly capture you, your partner and the joys of pregnancy. I thought I’d do my best to put...

Birthday Giveaway Week: Monkey and The Bug
I’m kicking off the last day of my birthday giveaway week with an online children’s boutique that feels like I could have hand picked every item myself. I love every bit of it.  It’s so fresh, a little funky and packed full of some of the cutest kiddo stuff I’ve seen. Monkey and The Bug  was created by Tina Burgos and her mother, Lou, who have scoured the world for...
